Spring is here and with the Coronavirus we have to stay home. What a better time to paint! Just follow the instructions:
Purple Tulip Painting
Instructions:
- Start by drawing the flowers and tulip.
- Paint the background with Alizarin Crimson next to the flower and finishing with a combination of Dioxazine Purple and Alizarin Crimson at the border.
Outline yellow flowers with Alizarin Crimson, paint inside with Cadmium Yellow Medium. - Outline leave with Greenish Umber or a Deep Green. Paint inside with Phthalo Green and highlight with Cadmium Yellow Light.
- Outline tulip with Dioxazine Purple. Paint inside with Dioxazine Purple highlighting and blending with Titanium White.
- Sign your painting and enjoy it.

The Pink Magnolia Tree is in bloom! Let’s paint it together!
Spring is here and with the Coronavirus we have to stay home. What a better time to paint! Just follow the instructions:
Pink Magnolia Tree Painting
Instructions:
- Start by painting the sky with Titanium White, Royal Blue or Sky Blue.
- Under the sky give a wash of Cadmium Yellow Light and Phthalo Green.
- Draw the trunk and limbs with van dyke brown using a small brush.
- Star punching colors with a White Bristle #3. Staring with the flowers: Titanium White, Deep Magenta and Alizarin Crimson.
- Punch vegetation around the tree: Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Phthalo Green and Greenish Umber or a Deep Green.
- Sign your painting and enjoy it.

Valentine Red Rose Painting
Is February, The month for love! What a better time to learn to paint a Valentine Red Rose.
Instructions:
- Start by drawing the rose with a pencil.
- Paint the under-paint with Gold Acrylic. Paint a second coat of Gold Acrylic around the rose. The best media to do your under-paint is acrylics because they dry faster. The under paint is very important because you are defining your drawing with colors and defining light and shade in your final painting.
- Paint the gold background first. Rose next and leaves last.
- Enjoy finishing your painting. You can use acrylics or oils.
- Sign your work of art.

“The Market Girl”: In the Hispanic culture it is a tradition to go to the market, where the local people bring their fresh fruits, vegetables and craft. This girl is proud to show her flowers and vegetables with her colorful hand netted ponchos in the back.
I did this painting when I went to Ecuador. Inspired by their colorful art and culture, very similar to most of the countries in South America.
Clina Polloni is a contemporary artist born in Chile. Her oil paintings are inspired by her love for people, animals and nature. Her new project: “The motif of the human figure in a dialogue with natures light and colors.” In these new paintings she is portraying people in their environment and activities, representing the American and Hispanic Culture.

I did this painting with my mother. She loves pink peonies and she asked me to paint it together.

Flowers of Love Poem Drawing
After the cold days of winter. I can’t wait for the warm days of spring to see the pale daffodils or the purple irises emerging, green baby leaves appearing in the old oak tree and finally a rainbow of colors; camellias, geraniums, tulips, peonies, crape myrtles, dahlias, roses and pansies. I get my canvas, brushes, bright colors and go outside, seat in the purple chair and paint. I live in Franklinton, NC, USA, travel to Chile to see my family and also paint.
Instructions:
- Start by drawing the poem with a medieval calligraphy. The first letter of the poem is at the right side with a gold background and decorated with flowers.
- Draw flowers around the poem.
- Create a border with gold and heavy gesso.
- Paint with acrylics or oils.

Orange Reflections in the River
This is a sunset of the beautiful Oconaluftee River that flows through The Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Transitions from blues to reds and yellows reflected in the water.
The Oconaluftee River is an inspiration for painting because of its beauty and legends. The Cherokee Indians considered the waters of the Oconaluftee River sacred. It was the deeper part of the river, where all the animals came to wash and heal their wounds when they had been hurt by hunters.

Casa de Paja
A straw farm house painting in Chile by Clina Polloni.
Casa de Paja en Chile
In the early years of Chile, even in the 1800’s, farmers planted their wheat in the fields. This was one of their most important sources of food. They baked their bread in an open fire, prepared mote con huesillos and other culinary dishes. And when the harvest was all over, they built their thatched houses with straw.
I did this painting from a sketch that my great grandfather, Antonio Polloni did when traveling and painting the country side of Chile in the 1800’s.

This painting is inspired by the beautiful fishing town of Constitución, Chile. Based on a painting that my great-grandfather did in 1913. Bright and changing colors of the sunset, the fishermen coming back with their rich catch on a summer evening after a day at the sea.
