Clina Polloni Painting Plein Air

Painting Plein Air with my friends and students at different times of the year. Inspired by the beautiful scenery, enjoying a delicious picnic and having lots of fun.

We all artists loves colors! And here they are in the front of our eyes! Greens, blues, teals, oranges and yellows, creating a palette of vibrant fantasy.

The lake is named for the Falls of the Neuse, a once whitewater section of the river that fell from the Piedmont into the lower Coastal Plain submerged during construction of the lake.

This class is about learning how to draw and paint the colors of autumn.

Plein Air is about leaving the studio behind and experience drawing and painting the landscape outside.
When the weather is bad, we teach Plein Air classes inside. You will learn how to prepare your canvas, how to draw and paint your under-paint and finish your painting. Techniques, textures and colors.

Easel (a simple table metal easel is fine).
Paper towel.
For Acrylics: Plastic/paper plate and glass.
For Oils: Refined Linseed Oil with Turpernoi. To clean the brushes Turpernoi. Glass container to mix media.
Pencil and eraser
Brushes: 1 fine #0 brush, 1 #2 and 1 #8 flat brushes, and 1 #2 round bristle brush.

My family is a family of artists. From generations to generations, we had supported and embraced the ARTS.

The original Polloni family were merchants and artists that moved from Florence, Italy to Cádiz, Spain. In this city Francisco de Polloni y Lepiani was born in 1733. he moved to Chile in 1752, starting the genealogy of the Polloni family in Chile.

As a present to him, I had created a sister in a painting, her name is Isabella de Polloni y Lepiani, portraying her time in history, her loving expression of the eyes and smile.

Instructions:

In this painting I started by drawing Isabella with pastels over the canvas. Defining the light and the shade.
Using oils I started painting the skin, blending light and shade to the color of the skin. Repeat the process as many times as it is necessary to create a soft skin. Follow by lips, eyes and hair.
Painted the background in deep colors to accent the face.
Finally, her close with light, shade and cold tones, Cerulean Blue, Phthalo Green and Phthalo Blue.
