Blue Door in a Log Cabin Painting

Blue Door in a Log Cabin

Painting Class Taught by Artist Clina Polloni.

Blue Door in a Log Cabin

Blue Door in a Log Cabin

A log cabin with a blue door embraced by a pink bougainvillea from the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.

This is a simple paint designed for the painting classes.

Instructions of how to do this painting:

  1. Start by drawing the log cabin, the door, the chair and finally the bougainvillea. Put attention to the interesting shapes of the old wood.
  2. Do your under-paint or imprimatura with a wash of silver acrylic and white. Acrylics are very good for under-painting because they dry faster. The under paint is very important because you are drawing with colors and defining light and shade in your final painting. The imprimatura is an initial stain of color painted on the canvas. It provides a transparent, toned ground, which will allow light falling onto the painting to reflect through the paint layers.
Blue Door in a Log Cabin Under-Paint

Blue Door in a Log Cabin Under-Paint

Progression, start painting in the following order because it is going to be easier for you:

  1. Using oils or acrylics, start painting the log cabin. Continue with the door, chair and stone floor.
  2. Paint the bougainvillea in the top.
  3. Sign your work of art.

Supply: This painting can be done in 2 medias, Oil Paintings or Acrylics.

Acrylics: You can buy them at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Jerry’s Arterama offers SOHO, Urban Artistic Acrylics. Excellent paintings, sold at a more reasonable price. 3060 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. (919) 876-6610.

Oil Paintings: You can buy them at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, but again the most affordable ones are at Jerry’s Arterama and their brand is LUKAS.

The Market Girl

The Market Girl, Oil painting of Hispanic Culture.

by Clina Polloni, 18”x 24”.

The Market Girl Painting

The Market Girl Painting

In the Hispanic culture it is a tradition to go to the market, where the local people bring their fresh fruits, vegetables and craft. This girl is proud to show her flowers and vegetables with her colorful hand netted ponchos in the back.

I did this painting when I went to Ecuador. Inspired by their colorful art and culture, very similar to most of the countries in South America. People live in the cosmopolitan cities surrounded by malls and a variety of today’s modern stores. But the beautiful thing is that they preserve their culture in the market.

This painting was exhibited at the Franklin County Art Council, NC. For the 2018 5 de Mayo Celebration of the Hispanic Culture. Also, at the Renaissance Center for The Arts in Wake Forest and Punto De Vista in Winston in Salem.

Clina Polloni is a contemporary artist born in Chile, winner of the Franklin County Art Council, NC. 2017 Artist Award. Her oil paintings are inspired by her love for people, animals and nature. Her new project: “The motif of the human figure in a dialogue with natures light and colors.” In these new paintings she is portraying people in their environment and activities, representing the American and Hispanic Culture.

Gold Labrador Oil Pet Portrait of Buffy

Learn to Paint A Pet Portrait. Progression and Supply.

By Artist Clina Polloni.

Gold Labrador Retriever Portrait

Gold Labrador Retriever Portrait

Buffy was a Gold Labrador Retriever.

When I was commissioned to paint Buffy’s oil Pet Portrait, I was fascinated by the beauty of this Gold Labrador Retriever. The expression of her eyes was all about love and caring for her family.  Painting her eyes and the many colors of his hair was a wonderful experience. I put her in a background of white snow because she loved to play in it.

Canvas: 16″x 20″

Instructions and Progression:

  1. Draw and paint the under-paint: It was done in acrylics because they dry faster and it gives you the opportunity to paint immediately. Use Raw Sienna mixed with Titanium White.
  2. Paint the background: Start by painting the snow using oil painting.
  3. Start up with Buffy’s face: Put special detail in the eyes, hair and nose. It will give you a better understanding of her features.
  4. Paint Buffy’s body: Taking advantage of the texture and the many gold tones of her hair.
