This painting is inspired by a Chilean song:

White Adobe Church Painting

Learn to paint an old country church.

Painting Class Taught by Clina Polloni.

This painting was inspired by my life in Rabones, a valley of dreams located in the mountains of the central region of Chile.

White Adobe Church in Chile

White Adobe Church in Chile

I lived for 10 years in our farm called “Las Puertas de Rabones”. I was close to God, to people, nature and to animals. Memories of golden sunny days, enjoying the company of beautiful people with spirits as clear as the crystal waters of “Rio Putagan” running through the fertile land. I learned about their culture, their traditions and the purity of their lives.

Ballerina Dress Painting

Self Portrait by Labannya Samanta.

This painting is a self portrait of Clina Polloni student Labannya Samanta. The challenge is to get a perfect definition of light and shadow, creating the many colors tones to accomplish the folding of the close.

Labannua’s self portrait got selected and exhibited at the Bryan Center of Duke University. The exhibition will end at the end of April. Congratulations! We are so proud of Labannya, she started her painting classes with Clina Polloni when she was 12 years old.

Learn To Paint A Ballerina Dress

Instructions and Progression:

  1. You start by drawing and painting a good under-paint. It was done in acrylics because they dry faster and it gives you the opportunity to paint immediately. Draw with your acrylics the light and shade.
  2. Continue with oils, light areas first, then medium tone and finally shading colors. Blend these colors very softly to create a fine transition

Ballerina Dress PaintingBrushes, multi-purpose, polyvalent, from the finest 0 to 6.
For Oil paintings, the best media is Refined Linseed Oil with Refined Turpentine. To clean the brushes Turpernoi. Glass container to mix media.

Red Apple Painting Classes.

Red Apple With Leaves

by Clina Polloni.

Pure red colors, apples are my favorite fruit to paint.

You can buy this painting at The Cotton Company or local business.

Or you can learn to draw and paint a red apple.

Red Apple Drawing

Red Apple Drawing

Drawing instructions:

  1. Divide your canvas in half with a vertical line. Red line in sample.
  2. Draw a vertical line to the right and to the left at equals distances from the center line. Draw another two lines for the bottom of the apple. Blue lines in sample.
  3. Draw an oval where you want the top of the apple. This oval must end at the vertical top lines. Pink oval in sample.
  4. Draw another oval for the bottom of the apple. This oval must end at the vertical inside lines. Pink oval in sample.
  5. Draw a line for the edge of the table.
  6. Following this basic structure, continue drawing your apple.

Painting Instructions:

  1. In this painting I did an under-paint of Yellow Ochre with a lot of water to be absolved by the canvas, using acrylics because they dry faster. The under paint is very important because you are continuing to draw with colors and defining light and shade in your final painting.
  2. Now you can paint the background, table and shading of apple in acrylics or oils.
  3. Enjoy painting the apple. Put special attention to the blending of colors.

How to Paint an Oil Pet Portrait of Bibo

Oil Pet Portrait of Bibo.

Pet Portrait of Brown Chow Chow

Pet Portrait of Brown Chow Chow

Bibo is a Brown Chow Chow.  I was commissioned by my friend Phylliss to paint Bibo. Laying under my feet, I would go “Bibo raise your head so I can see your beautiful eyes”. Her hair is brown but with beautiful copper colors.

Canvas: 11″x14″.

Instructions and Progression:

  1. Draw and paint the under-paint: It was done in acrylics because they dry faster and it gives you the opportunity to paint immediately. Use a washed of Yellow Ochre, but be sure to saturate the canvas. Also you can draw the eyes with black acrylic.
  2. Paint the background: In his portrait I painted the background in dark colors because I wanted to highlight her beautiful brown/copper hair to show well with contrast.
  3. Continue with Bibo’s face: Put special detail in the eyes, hair and nose. It will give you a better understanding of her features
  4. Paint Bibo’s body: Taking advantage of the texture and the many tones of her hair. The hair was painted with a #1 pro-white brush using it sideways, look at picture.

Colors:

  1. Titanium White
  2. Flesh, Portrait Pink or Pale Pink
  3. Cadmium Yellow Light
  4. Cadmium Yellow Medium
  5. Yellow Ochre
